A Place for Reflection

For my Studio 1 final project, I was tasked with designing a place for reflection, but not necessarily a building. I envisioned my site being on a cliff overlooking water and meant to be moved through to experience the entirety of the area. When establishing my concept, I first reflected on what reflection means to me and I realized that I tend to reflect most when I feel uncomfortable and in the dark about things going on in my life. This lent itself to my design choices consisting of narrow walkways and the terminus point being that of a cantilever projected out over the water, all of which allow the user to experience moments of discomfort and release.
